Even if a company is growing rapidly, has an amazing product, solid compensation plan, and great marketing materials, it doesn’t mean that it’s right for everyone. The questions you have to ask are: Does the company have the same values as mine? Are they marketing in a way that is suitable to my personality? Do they offer a product or service that I can get passionate about? Is the compensation plan suited to my abilities, time commitment, and talents? Once you answer these and other questions, you will have a better feel for whether a company is right for you and although selecting the right company doesn’t guarantee success, it does drastically increase the odds. The key is to do your due diligence and make a good selection.

 

Power Secret Two: Pick the Right Sponsor

 

One of the biggest mistakes I see made in network marketing is picking the wrong sponsor. Typically one of two things happens. Either a person gets sponsored by a friend, family member, or associate, who doesn’t know anything more about building a successful network marketing business than they do. The second option usually happens after a bad experience with the first option and so they begin researching to find a big hitter to sponsor them. The problem with being sponsored by a big hitter is that they don’t always have time to work closely with new people. After all they probably have thousands of people in their network, all needing some level of attention. The key here is to be sponsored by someone who is serious about building a big business and is willing to dedicate the time to help you succeed. It’s also important that your sponsor have similar values and be someone you would enjoy working with very closely. Again, picking the right sponsor doesn’t guarantee success, but it sure helps.

 

Power Secret Three: Develop Purpose, Goals, and Objectives

 

Over the years I’ve trained and coached tens of thousands of network marketers and have found that most don’t really know why they are in business. It’s critical to long-term success to have a solid “why” or purpose for being in business. It might be to have more time freedom to enjoy your family or to secure your financial future, so you can give your time to ministry or charity work. It might be to become the largest contributor to a charity or ministry. Whatever your purpose, it needs to be vibrant enough to keep you going during the tough times. Once you have a solid purpose, then you must determine what needs to happen in order to achieve that purpose – these are called goals and are the stepping stones or road signs along the way toward your purpose. Goals need to be written and reviewed daily. Often goals are too big to determine what to do on a daily basis, so you should break them down into manageable activities called objectives. Start each day by reviewing your purpose, goals, and objectives, then start working on the highest priority objectives and you will quickly reach your goals and achieve your purpose.

 

Power Secret Four: Right Attitudes and Beliefs

 

Many people fail in network marketing because they don’t have the right attitude. They treat their business like a hobby, working at it whenever time allows, rather than treating it like a business and scheduling regular time for business activities. I’ve also encountered many people in network marketing businesses, who show signs that they believe that what they are doing isn’t quite on the up and up, which makes it difficult for them to talk with people. What does this mean? Most people who enter the network marketing industry have never run a business, so they don’t know what it means to treat it like a business. The keys are to first have the right attitude and second the right actions. Network marketing is one of the very few businesses that can be built while still employed at something else. The great part is that you keep your current income, while building another stream, which eventually will replace the first source. However, in order to do that, you must do the things that successful business people do. You must be consistent and persistent with your business and work on the most productive activities every day. Finally, you need to make a long-term commitment to your business. I have to laugh when someone says they’ll give it a try for six months or so. I’ve owned businesses, both network marketing and traditional, for many years and I’ve yet to find one that would produce a full-time income within six months, while building it on a part-time basis. Yes, some people earn big time income in network marketing within their first six months, but it’s because they put in a more than full-time effort or already had a massive circle of influence. We have schedules to keep, bills to pay, homework time and the list goes on and on. So if we would look at our mlm business and look at the 95% failure rate something has to change.

To help avoid your mlm business from failing, we must work as business owners not employees. Unfortunately this is going to take time. We are trained from grade school through college to be “good employees” and this impart is what leads to this mlm business failure rate. We all want to be business owners and entrepreneurs, so let’s do that. If we invest the time, energy and effort that we do at work into our own business, this 98% mlm business failure rate would change, guaranteed.

Here is a quick list of the things that I do each day to keep my mlm business from failing:

1. Set a schedule and stick to it!

We go to work each day and the boss says be here by 9am and you can leave at 5pm, at NO point does this change for our mlm business. We must be the boss, not the employee and set a schedule for our activities or our mlm business will without doubt fail.

2. Remind yourself of the reality of your upline. Your upline does not have an mlm business that is failing because they work the business as an IBO - Independent Business Owner. They are treating their business like a business, they are the boss. Your upline and I mean the guy or gal talking as the expert, the one who is up on stage talking 90% of the time, knows that the rate of failure in the mlm business is 95%. They are using those numbers in THEIR favor not yours, they are using you as an employee for FREE! Kudos to them I say, but I also say YOU can do the same thing but even better. Take charge of your own system, when you signed up to be an IBO you signed up to do just that and if you don’t your mlm business will fail and become part of the 95%. By the way, you are in the 5% that he/she talks about on the video screen but not for long, so think, educate and keep your mlm alive and not another mlm business failure.

3. Everyday I remind myself that all I invest: time, energy and effort will be paid back in multiples. This includes positive time, effort and energy as well as negative. Mlm business failure is not so much due to the effort and energy that we put forth as it is to the time we waste with the teachings of our upline that will not exponentially grow our mlm business. Ask yourself did McDonalds grow because 1 person told 3 people who then got 3 people to go to a seminar for 1 hour? Mlm business failure is an issue of using time wisely.

Finally, your mlm business will become how you treat it. If we are teaching and practicing failure techniques then your mlm will fail. If we take a step back and look to educate and practice methods that make the most of our time, energy and effort we can and will avoid mlm business failure. It is true that the 2% of successful MLM’s, have been working on their business for around 3 years. Most MLM’s report loss rates of exceeding 99%. And product usage drastically diminishing with new enrollees after only 6 months. It takes an average of 3 years to become successful in MLM. That is if you work your business on a daily basis, giving your blood, sweat, and tears to help others and make it happen.

When you hear the “3 months and I got rich” from those on stage, those people pulled their down line off an MLM that they had previously been in. ( working for about 3 years up to that point)

When MLM was started in the early 1950s it really was a great idea. Well, because everyone knew everyone in the neighborhood. When there was a barbecue, everyone from two blocks around came. There was plenty of friends to help grow your business. Everyone helping everyone.

Did you know that the average network marketer must have a 3,053 person down line to have a substantial income to even quite their day job. (Do you have 3053 friends.)

Since the first MLM came out the entire world has changed, With walllmarrts every 10 - 20 miles apart in major cities.

There is still 2% of us that make money in MLM’s. (a lot of money) MLM is big business.

Did you know, there are over 53.2 million people in the USA that are in some sort of MLM. That means there is a great possibility that you, or someone you know, knows an individual, that is a part of that 2%, that are using the right MLM Tricks to be making money in MLM.

There is over 4600 MLM’s in the USA alone. ( including: travel, health and wellness, Telecom, insurance, internet security, ect.)

I have learned some MLM tricks that work and have applied them to my business. Think about it ,if I gave you all the MLM Tricks, and you put 19 people in your MLM every week for the next month that would be no less than 26 people in your down line in 31 days. If you then, in turn taught each person in your down line the same MLM Tricks, and they did the same thing how long would it take to get the 3,053 people in your down line. Much less than the average 3 years!

Now you should know why I am in 3 MLM’s, and making more than I ever dreamed of. Knowledge and Skill is the key.

The first MLM Tricks you must know to ever succeed is: NEVER lead with the opportunity, always lead with the product, or you will have people dropping out as fast as you put them in. Don’t make this fatal mistake. The biggest reason most MLM’s fail is because the person/s who sold you into the business, really was not concerned with your success No matter what they tell you, they were only concerned with the sale of the opportunity. They all pitch the business, but your compensation comes from consumption. You care the most about your success. I am not saying that they meant to harm you, but they were not, by any stretch, prepared to help you. Even worse, instead of having the right stuff to show you how to start making money, they try to get you all hyped up with these NEW state of the art, “selling tools”. Stuff like; brochures, pre-done ads, cd’s, dvd’s, tapes and stuff that really doesn’t work. If it did, most of you wouldn’t be reading this right now.

All MLM Tricks are important, but one of the most important one’s, is for you to learn to be the leader not the follower. Everyone wants to follow an expert. Stop counting on your “up line” to close the sale. You become the Leader. (know what your talking about.)
